Basel Week Miami ’13: Miami Project

The Miami Project successfully launched its second rendition during Basel week with a well-curated selection of U.S. galleries, including such notable names as Yossi Milo, Joshua Liner, Mark Moore, Richard Heller and David B. Smith. Located in the Wynwood Arts District, the young art fair focused on primary representation of emerging and mid-career artists, which was a nice counterpoint to its much larger neighbor, Art Miami. Openings: Mike Brodie – “A Period of Juvenile Prosperity” @ Yossi Milo

Last week, we saw the return of Mike Brodie to the art world, with the opening of his debut show with Yossi Milo, entitled A Period of Juvenile Prosperity. For those not familiar, Brodie is a self-taught photographer who literally rode the rails, jumping trains and traveling across the country starting in the early 2000’s. Openings: Simen Johan @ Yossi Milo

Opening last Thursday at Yossi Milo was the latest show by talented NY-based Scandinavian photographer, Simen Johan. Johan has developed a unique method in which he photographs animals and plants in nature preserves and then uses sculptural and digital techniques to seamlessly incorporate them into environments of his creation.
