APAK has a three person show opening tonight at Junc Gallery with Betsy Walton and Aya Kakeda. For those not familiar with the duo, APAK consists of a husband and wife team, Aaron Piland and Ayumi Kajikawa respectively, hence their name. Their rich and colorful paintings of creatures living in a utopian society are a breath of fresh air in this genre. Their work bring us back to a time before modern technology and industry when people seemed more willing to make time to enjoy and interact with nature. They appear to have divided their little beings into groups for this show like “earth people,” “water people,” “fire people,” etc… Images from the show after the jump.
