AM stopped by to check out I-LIB’s (I Lurk In Bushes) debut solo show “As Teardrops Fall” at Stella Dore Gallery in London and we were blown away by his combination of spray paint and ballpoint pen drawings. This young artist has been causing a stir in the UK and we can see why there has been much interest in his work. Check out the cool video created by Neil Chester (above) as well as all the photos from the opening after the jump…
The installation looked stunning, from the beautifully painted gold teardrops on the floor, to the creepy looking wooden sculpture housing a drawing and some paste-ups at the rear of the gallery. Stella Dore’s sandblasted brick walls provided the perfect backdrop for the pieces on found paper in antique frames. For us, the etched leather luggage case and the death/glory piece (seen below) with hand drawn lettering on individual book covers, nailed to a piece of found wood were two of the stand-out pieces from the show.
There was an excellent little hand finished screen print available at the gallery in a small edition of 25. As we write this, there are just a couple still available – £65 will get you one of the last remaining copies.
