If you are anything like the guys at AM, then you love to read and collect art books…
Street Art has been widely documented over the last 25 years, since Martha Cooper (interviewed) and Henry Chalfant’s (interviewed) now legendary “Subway Art” hit the shelves back in 1984. We recently heard that a new tome entitled “Street Artists: The Complete Guide” is going to be launched by Graffito Books at London’s Pure Evil Gallery on September 24th (from 6pm onwards).
“Street Artists: The Complete Guide” is written by Eleanor Mathieson and Xavier A. Tapies – the team behind 2007’s “Street Art and the War on Terror: How the Worlds Best Graffiti Artists said NO to the Iraq War,” which we enjoyed. The photography in the new book comes from Glenn Arango. The book is to feature some of our favourite artists such as Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Os Gemeos, Blek le Rat, Swoon (interviewed), Judith Supine, Dan Witz, Faile, Eine, Pure Evil and as they say, many many more.
On the subject of Pure Evil Gallery, check out their brilliant spangly new website here where you can take a 360 degree panoramic tour of the gallery spaces. They’ve even tidied up the place for you! We look forward to adding this one to our book shelf. Check out some of the page spreads after the jump.
