As we hinted in an earlier teaser postAM was very happy to have another chance to visit with Todd Schorr (interviewed) ahead of his show at the renowned Otis College of Art and Design this weekend (June 26th). As you can see above, the centerpiece and one of the new paintings for this 10-year retrospective, will be “Atomic Holiday” partly featuring Todd’s take on the four horsemen of the apocalypse (here you can see famine, pestilence, and war).

For more detailed pics from this painting, the studio, and more info on the show, take a look after the jump…

The opening will be on June 26th from 4 – 7 pm with Todd in attendance and hosting a book signing for his “American Surreal” monograph at the Ben Maltz Gallery at the Otis College of Art and Design (9405 Lincoln Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045). Also, Otis will be hosting a series of exhibition-related art-making workshops for kids and families on July 10, July 31, and August 21 (10 am – 12 pm). On the last day of the exhibition, September 11, the gallery will be hosting a conversation with Todd and Curator Meg Linton at 3 pm.

Seen above is a peek at another new painting from Todd entitled “Fossil Fools” – also a very impressive and timely piece considering recent events.

Check out awesome T-shirt above (limited to 250) designed in conjunction with Hurley that definitely matches the title of the exhibition “Designed for Extinction” as you can see Todd’s humorous take on the evolution of man and his final fate. The shirt will be available at the opening on a first come first serve basis and will only be $10.

Also, as you can see from the pic below, we have some signed showcards to give away to some lucky readers. Just leave a comment here, on our forum, or on our facebook and we will give one away at each location.
