David Lynch, best known as a filmmaker and director of such critically acclaimed films as Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, and Blue Velvet, is also an accomplished visual artist in the mediums of painting and sculpture. In this exhibition, Lynch’s second show with William Griffin Gallery, he continues his unique vision of the narrative of the American psyche. The eccentric and slightly bizarre wall pieces include works on cardboard with thickly applied paint and the occasional light bulb, all wrapped around gold frames. The sculptures resemble fully-functioning floor-standing lamps. Whether or not you are a fan of Lynch’s films, this show is worth a visit.
