Openings: Group Show – “Breach of Privacy” @ Carmichael Gallery

For the those with voyeuristic tendencies out there, the Carmichael Gallery recently hosted the opening for a show that might fit your artistic taste. Breach of Privacy features the work of five NY-based artists – Yasmine Chatila, Hilo Chen, Adam Krueger, Alyssa Monks and Jaclyn Santos – and their explorations of the nature of voyeurism with their renditions and glimpses of private moments from afar all presented over a range of mediums including oils, mixed media, and photography. Continuing an unlikely collaboration that started at the Hurley Space last October (covered), Nathan Ota and graf legend RISK will be opening a show together on July 7th at 111 Minna in San Francisco. In actuality, their partnership started decades ago in the graffiti scene with time and distance leading them down different paths. A couple weeks back, the Jonathan LeVine Gallery hosted a new body of work from Mars-1′s (featured) alongside Miss Van’s Bailarinas (covered). For this show, entitled Afterglow, Mars-1 elected to paint several large-scale, acrylic works on linen allowing him to expound on a grander scale his geometric visions of otherworldly landscapes.
