Last Saturday night, the LeBasse Projects in the heart of LA’s Chinatown hosted a new solo show from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed). Jokes On Me… was a sculptural extravaganza with some of Yoskay’s favorite toys customized (utilizing plaster, resin, vinyl, clay and wood) with his signature facial expressions and other modifications. He was also more than happy to share humorous anecdotes associated with many of the pieces. Perhaps the most impressive piece of the show was the large-scale installation piece he placed on the back wall along with many hanging sculpts scattered throughout the showspace.
