AM came across Crystal Wagner’s work just recently and since we saw images of her beautiful and complex installations, we’ve been looking forward to seeing what she would present for her solo exhibition Surface at the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University. It seemed like only yesterday that the some of the art world (here, here, here, here) helped boost Barack Obama into the White House. Now, it’s almost time for the 2012 elections and although the buzz created by the visual culture may not be as overwhelming as 2008, some artists are still taking a stand to make their voices heard. Upcoming: Geoff McFetridge – “Floating” @ Cooper Cole

Coming up on November 8th, the LA-based Geoff McFetridge makes a return to his native country of Canada for his first showing there. Collectively entitled Floating, the new paintings will be put on display at the Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto where fans will be able to admire his simple style that seems to walk the line between two and three dimensional space. Kickstarter: Tim Biskup – Big Butter Double Vinyl LP

Some of you may not know (including us), but painter Tim Biskup (featured) is part of a band Big Butter that he formed with his brother Mike Biskup back in the 80s. One of their favorite and most obscure recordings, BRAINSLED, was released as a cassette in 1989, but was never released on vinyl.
