AM came across Crystal Wagner’s work just recently and since we saw images of her beautiful and complex installations, we’ve been looking forward to seeing what she would present for her solo exhibition Surface at the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University. Traditionally a printmaker, Wagner projects her work way beyond the traditional two-dimensional artform as she builds intricate forms inspired by nature and natural structures within her immersive installations. Texture, surface, colour and dimension are manipulated to create site specific constructed environments with a combination of sourced and found materials intertwined with printed matter.
Crystal sent us some pictures of her prepping the work in the studio to accompany the image of the actual installation coming together (above). The exhibition opens on 2nd November and runs until 9th December 2012 for those in the area.
