The Brooklyn Museum recently held its annual benefit gala to raise funds for the institution’s programming. This year, the theme was The Brooklyn Artist’s Ball and 18 Brooklyn-based artists were invited to install their vision and transform a 40-foot-long table into a specially created work of art that will be on view for one night only at the exclusive dinner and after party. The esteemed list of artists that included Njideka Akunyili, Daniel Arsham, Jules de Balincourt, FAILE, Jennifer Catron and Paul Outlaw, Joey Frank, Jacob Hashimoto, Steven & William Ladd, Emily Noelle Lambert, Fernando Mastrangelo, NavinJune Norling, José Parlá, Analia Segal, Alison Elizabeth Taylor, Max Toth and Lan Tuazon impressed charitable patrons that literally “dined on art” with this multi-sensory dining experience. Imagine dining on a stack of Faile boxes or a canvas painted by Jose Parlá or even handling/studying the textures of a Daniel Arsham object…not a bad way to be rewarded by donating to a great cause and immersing yourself in a great sensory experience.
