On Saturday night, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery opened their doors to an impressive new solo show from Andrew Hem (interviewed). Always willing to experiment with new imagery and to work on new ideas, the fresh paintings are powerful and full of vivid colors, a dream like distillation of his experiences and travels through the years. In addition, he has included a series of works are based on his studio, a theme that also rounds out the show in the form an installation at the entrance of the showspace.
