Over the weekend, Vered Gallery opened a new showing from Colin Christian (interviewed) entitled Cosplay, a fitting name collectively for the new selection of sculptures and for his work in general. The London-born and now Florida-based artist creates mostly comely female figures out of fiberglass and silicone, an natural offshoot of his artistic vision while operating a business initially making latex clothing for fetish stores around the country. As indicated by the name of the exhibition, he costumes his creations, often taking inspiration from “old sci-fi movies, pinup girl/supermodels, anime, ambient electronic music and H.P. Lovecraft.”
