This Saturday night (May 2nd), the Upper East Side NY gallery run by Adam Lindemann will be opening a location on the West Coast called Venus Over Los Angeles. The debut show will feature three new series of work from the New York-based Dan Colen: Canopics – sculptures cast from the negative space formed by roadside guardrails mangled by car accidents, Rainbow Paintings – inspired by Disney’s Fantasia, decontextualized backdrops minus the animated characters, and Psychics (Interstellar Medium) – a sound piece of recorded psychic readings with the original recipient of the fortune removed.
