Prolific Russian artist Rustam QBic recently announced the release of his new limited edition print release, Mind Games, will be available on Thursday 14th May at 5PM GMT (12PM New York time) at Unframed store, perfectly timed for upcoming Father’s day in June. Through his meaningful surrealist works, Qbic usually sends out positive messages, which glorifying the power of knowledge, family and other universal values. Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Mari Inukai Murals @ Worcester Museum (Part I)

With the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine) at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts now open to the public, the artists invited to paint murals for the exhibition were able to start their efforts last week. One of the artists invited, Andrew Hem, has created large scale public art in the past, but the other two, Audrey Kawasaki and Mari Inukai were not as experienced with mural painting. Chris Burden 1946 – 2015

The art world was saddened today to hear that Chris Burden had passed away at home earlier this morning after an 18 month fight with melanoma. He was 69. Although probably best known for his iconic Urban Light installation (seen above) at the LACMA, the American artist working in performance, sculpture, and installation art was at his most provocative early in his career with a series of performances where personal danger was the theme including shooting himself in the arm, being kicked down two flights of stairs, starving […]

Streets: Phlegm (Berlin)

Invited in by Urban Nation for their continuing series of public arts projects, British artist Phlegm recently painted this challenging mural on a corner building in Berlin. As part of the One Wall Project, the Sheffield-based artist expertly navigated the architectural details on these walls in the Schöneberg area and livened up the cityscape with his signature characters. Now and through midnight Sunday, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be randomly giving away five original drawings (seen above) with the purchase of her book Mirror, Black Mirror from her webstore. The 175 page monograph documents seven years of work made by the artist after moving to a cabin in the woods of Northern California and costs $70. The Madrid-based artist’s raw hyper-realistic portraiture is a sight to behold, but even more so in person when the scale is fully appreciated. On May 21st, Hong Kong’s Time Square will be welcoming in another artist (see Mike Stilkey and Yoskay Yamamoto) to create an installation arranged by LeBasse Projects at the mall complex in Causeway Bay. In celebration of his character Toby’s 10th birthday, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) faithful companion will be part of a new sculptural installation set up as a birthday party with his dear friends. Videos: Vhils – “Incision”

Last year, we brought you images from Vhils’ (filmed) show in Brazil where portraits of the country’s indigenous Araçaí community were carved the doors of their homes and put on display at at Caixa Cultural. Nowness released a video a couple days ago from the Portuguese street artist that looks into the project a little deeper and hopes to draw attention to the plight of the 90 Guaraní people were moved by the government at the turn of this century, displacing them from their ancestral homes. Streets: Nychos (Vienna)

Last month, prolific street muralist Nychos painted a mural in his Vienna entitled Dissection of a Polar Bear. Over five stories high, the wall painted is the first large scale piece the Austrian artist has worked on in his hometown and coincides with creative studio, Rabbit Eye Movement, which just celebrated their 10 year anniversary.
