On November 2nd, Corey Helford Gallery will be opening another showing by Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) with a new body of work entitled Relazioni Pericolose (translated to Dangerous Liaisons). Working with a style that draws from her background as an illustrator, the San Marino, Italy-based artist creates imagery that features characters and subject matter that appear innocent at first but on closer inspection quickly reveal darker themes.
She further explains – “These new works embody many of the recurring themes and obsessions that inhabit my universe and reveal my ‘darker sides’. The fear of being hunted, hurt by others, losing myself in a relationship, both fear and desire of taking possession of the beloved, and falling under the control of someone else.”
