If you have been following AM on a regular basis, you will probably have come across photographs from the talented Brandon Shigeta as he hit up shows, events, and street work in progress for us. Now, for Little Tokyo Design Week (LTDW), Brandon has compiled some of his favorite photos and assembled it into an ARTCUBE installation including images from Retna, Push, Barbara Kruger, David Choe, James Jean, Shark Toof, Ryan Mcginness, Patrick Martinez, Aaron De La Cruz, Dalek, Revok, Eklips, Haroshi, Kami & Sasu, Neck Face, Andrew Schoultz, D*face, and more.
Even more interesting, the 65,000 card assemblage is meant to be interactive with the audience invited to take any image that they particularly enjoy home with them with an overhead mounted camera filming a timelapse of the slow dissolution of the cube. As an added bonus, signed cards as well as drawings from the artists are randomly inserted into the stacked sculptural work. The opening is on this Thursday night, July 14th, so makes sure you visit Brandon’s ARTCUBE along with other container galleries and events.
