One of the iconic images from Banksy’s historic artist residency on the streets of New York last year was the so called Heart Balloon (later jacked and displayed during Basel Week Miami). A variation on this piece as seen recently as a print for sale on Paddle8, but it has made a more high profile appearance over that weekend in the form of an original on wood that sold at Sean Penn’s Help Haiti Home Gala in Beverly Hills. Bought by Chris Martin from Coldplay with proceeds to go to charity, the piece pulled in a cool $650,000.
