After introducing Julio Anaya Cabanding’s work at a group exhibition (covered) earlier this year in Montreal, curator Sasha Bogojev will be presenting the debut solo show (opening on April 27th) from the Spanish artist in Italy. Hosted by Tales Of Art Gallery in Imola and organized in partnership with Musei Civici di Imola, Unstolen will feature Cabanding’s studio work which mirror the trompe-l’oeil remakes of classic old-masters that he places on the streets. Some of this public art will be seen in photographs at the exhibition alongside his versions of iconic works by artists like Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Monet, Friederich, Camprobin, or Vuillard, created on found and specially treated cardboard. Rounding out the showing will be an original intervention painted on the walls of the gallery.
