Openings: L’Atlas & Canto – “PARALLELS” @ Fabien Castanier Gallery

Over the weekend, the Fabien Castanier Gallery presented new works from L’Atlas & Canto collectively entitled PARALLELS. Aptly named, the exhibition not only refers the nationality of the two French artists, but the similarities in their aesthetic that both involve abstraction, precise patterning, and geometric tendencies. The series of paintings and installations they produced do pair nicely when viewed together and certainly show that the two have come far since their time on the streets. We were particularly impressed with the additional three-dimensional elements of Canto’s work and […]

Structures: Boris “Delta” Tellegen (Netherlands) – Part I

For those familiar with his work, the pieces from Boris “Delta” Tellegen, whether on the streets or in galleries, are very structural in nature. Interestingly, he has taken the architectural elements to his craft and applied them to the facade of a building in Harleem in the Netherlands. Commissioned by Ymere, a social housing company, the new housing block will feature Tellegen’s special post-graffiti aesthetic in the form of the pattern and shape of brickwork and windows on its surface. Take a look at the plans and […]

Openings: Ludo – “Destructionis Hostis Vespa” @ White Walls

Last weekend, White Walls in San Francisco hosted the opening for Ludo’s (interviewed) new solo show. Entitled Destructionis Hostis Vespa, the exhibition is named for a creature from the Parisian street artist’s Nature’s Revenge series or works – a cross between a combat airplane and a wasp. Displayed in sculptural form as well as with paintings from multiple angles, blue prints if you will, the entire show was able to present a cohesive feel to it and also gave striking examples of Ludo’s work. Over the weekend, the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco presented new urban abstractions from Augustine Kofie. Upcoming: Tim Biskup – “Charge” @ Martha Otero Gallery

On September 28th, the Martha Otero Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting a new solo show from Tim Biskup (featured) entitled Charge. The new body of work will revolve around Biskup’s thoughts on the title of the show, which holds complex personal references for him. Not only does the more common meaning to feel psychologically or emotively “charged” describe his feelings behind the exhibition, but “charge” also is used in particle physics and can be applied to color theory. For those in the area, the opening starts at […]
