Upcoming: KAWS @ Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)

Streets: Herbert Baglione (Frankfurt)

Artist Herbert Baglione is currently in Frankfurt, Germany for the Street-Art Brazil exhibition put on by the SCHIRN along with other artists like Nunca, Zezao, and more. With the opening festivities scheduled for the 4th, the Brazilian street muralist has been extending his 1000 Shadows project (also see Parma, Italy) into the Deutschland. Studio Visit / Preview: Nicola Verlato – “Pagan Pop” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

On Saturday night, September 7th, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles will welcome back Nicola Verlato and his surreal paintings for another showing (see 2012). The new work is collectively entitled Pagan Pop, a reference to his contemporary take on late medieval narrative painting and the theme of how Western society has continually attempted to suppress its pagan roots. Streets: Case for Walltherapy (Rochester)

This last week brought new work from German street artist Case for the Wall Therapy event in Rochester, New York. Following up their 2012 rendition with even a stronger roster this year, the city was gifted many new pieces including two murals from the Maclaim crew member. Particularly stunning was the tribute seen above to Martin Luther King near Park & Colby featuring the colorful hand styles that he has been using recently in his walls. Preview: Nuart Festival 2013 (David Choe)

After resurfacing in Mexico for his first show in years, David Choe (featured) has switched continents for his next foray in the streets. Along with Choe, this year’s Nuart Festival in Stavenger, Norway also features Martha Cooper, DALeast, ROA, M-City, Faith47, Hush, Vhils, Ernest Zacharevic, C215, Dot Dot Dot, Dotmaster, Strok, Martin Whatson, and Aiko. Although the event officially opens on September 7th, Choe is already in town retracing his steps from 2011, painting new murals for his fans to enjoy.

Patrick Martinez for Playboy

Los Angeles-based artist Patrick Martinez was recently asked to work on a project for Playboy’s App. Taking his signature neon work and his urban aesthetic, he built four sets for Miss May 2010 Playmate Kassie Logsdon to interact with. Take a look at some stills and the video below, shot by photographer Jared Ryder, as the creative process was throughly explained by Martinez and footage from the shoot is revealed. Coming up next at the Corey Helford Gallery is a solo show from Kukula entitled The Adventures Of Raspberry Finn. Opening on September 14th, the exhibition will feature new paintings that draw their inspiration from characters such as Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, but with a twist. They have all been turned into women, and dressed up in clothes by a Russian designer – Ulyana Sergeenko. Upcoming: Augustine Kofie – “Structurally Sound” @ White Walls

After his first true solo (covered) outside of the United States back in May, Augustine Kofie will be returning Stateside for his next showing. Structurally Sound, opening on September 14th at the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco, will feature post-graffiti abstractions from this member of Graffuturism movement.
