Videos: John Knuth – “Fly Paintings” for MOCAtv

MOCAtv recently released a video detailing the novel work of John Knuth and his little “assistants.” By feeding pigments to the over 250,000 common houseflies that were used in this new series of paintings, Knuth is able to create his artwork from the regurgitations over the canvases that form the insects’ environment. Make sure you get to the end of the video where you will see the resulting pieces…

Upcoming: Eric Joyner – “First World Problems” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Robot and donut enthusiast Eric Joyner (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at Corey Helford Gallery on August 10th, his fifth with the Culver City showspace. Unlike his last show (covered) which featured his old school mechanical characters in the natural setting, the new paintings depict them in the city along with their dependable fried dessert friends. Rife with irony, First World Problems will see his robots dealing with the “struggles” of urban coexistence. Discuss Eric Joyner here.

On Thursday night (August 1st), Roq La Rue will be hosting all new works from painter Tran Nguyen (alongside Jason “Ti Kunkit” Wheatley). Thursday night (August 1st) at Spoke Art, Scott Scheidly will expanding his ongoing pink portrait series with all new works for his debut solo show, The Pinks, with the gallery. Releases: Amy Sol – “Beacon” & “Aquilon’s Valley” Prints
