Preview: Kazuki Takamatsu @ Corey Helford Gallery

On April 13th, the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City will be hosting a solo show from Kazuki Takamatsu, whose work we focused on in one of our articles from Basel Week Miami last year. The Japanese artist’s ghostly portraits combines computer imaging with traditional techniques to create a topographical effect that is quite interesting when seen in person. Streets: Momo (Jamaica)

The geometrically-inclined Momo has spent the last several weeks working in Jamaica on various mural projects. He certainly looked like he was having a good time along with partner in crime Angelo (Fame Festival), and their stay there was quite productive also judging from various large to medium-sized walls that were painted on the streets as well as indoors. Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “Sneewittchen” Print

Tomorrow (April 5th) at 12 noon PST, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Sneewittchen. As the second in her series of mini-prints, this 10″ x 10″ edition limited to 50 is meant for collectors with a modest budget ($100). Upcoming: Ryan McGinley – “Running Water, What Are You Running From?” @ Bischoff Projects

Ryan McGinley, whose Blue Falling is the newest image for the High Line billboard commission in New York, is also planning a solo show in Germany. Opening April 6th, this Saturday, Running Water, What Are You Running From? at Bischoff Projects in Frankfurt will feature the ebullient photography of the NY-based artist, who plans to be in attendance. Preview: Keith Haring Retrospective – “The Political Line” @ MAM Paris

Later this month (April 19th), the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (MAM) will be hosting a massive retrospective for the late, great Keith Haring. Almost 250 paintings on canvas and tarpaulins and from subway walls, as well as twenty monumental works, will be on display forming one of the largest presentations of the iconic artist’s work. Update: Mark Ryden

For those waiting for the postponed show (now slated for later this year) in Los Angeles from the great Mark Ryden, there have been side projects to keep your love for renowned lowbrow painter alive. These included a comprehensive book, a print release, an album cover design, and a painting for charity. Now, we get a glimpse of something else he is working on – little meat sculptures.  Only time will tell if these are for the upcoming solo or for some other endeavor. Discuss Mark Ryden here.

Releases: ROA – “SK8room Skatedecks”

Belgium-based ROA, who recently had a solo showing in his home country (covered), has also been working on a project with SK8room. The set of three decks (Decay 1, 2, & 3) featuring the street artist’s anatomical style are the result of  a trip to Cambodia, to meet the guys from Skateistan (20% of sales go to them) in Phnom Penh, a not-for-profit organization that teaches empowerment through skateboarding to children in impoverished countries.
