Thursday night (August 1st) at Spoke Art, Scott Scheidly will expanding his ongoing pink portrait series with all new works for his debut solo show, The Pinks, with the gallery. Releases: Amy Sol – “Beacon” & “Aquilon’s Valley” Prints

Later today (2 pm PST), Amy Sol (interviewed) will be releasing two new prints on her online store. Beacon (seen above) is based on an painting that showed last year in Miami (covered) and the original of the Aquilon’s Valley image (seen below) was included in a group show earlier this year (covered). For those of you who liked the work created for Kent Williams’ show in Los Angeles back in 2011 (covered), he now has a new book with plenty of his paintings of that style gracing it’s pages. Portland based artist Zach Johnsen is busy preparing for his upcoming exhibition entitled The House of Uncommons. The body of work created for the show explores an alternate parliamentary governing system comprised of spirit figures existing outside the periphery of mankind. Each painting depicts a figure within this fantasy system of rules with its own unique title, identity and powers of legislation. Johnsen’s dynamic paintings have pretty much always been executed on paper, but his new work for the exhibition is comprised entirely of paintings on wooden panels. […]

Those lucky enough to attend SDCC last week and and weekend may have feasted their eyes on a new sculptural piece from Robert Williams. The Rapacious Wheel (made in collaboration with Gentle Giant Studios) dominated the area where the Juxtapoz founder held his daily signings and screened his documentary.
