Releaese: Dalek – “Untitled 101” Print

James Marshall aka Dalek (interviewed) recently released a 38 color handpulled silkscreen through Dynamo Editions. Untitled 101 comes with a paper size of 26 inches by 26 inches and an image size of 24 1/2 inches x 24 1/2 inches and was produced in an edition size of 50. This Saturday, October 10th, KP Projects // MKG in Los Angeles will be hosting the opening of Andrew Hem’s (interviewed) latest solo. Building on his successful showing there last year (covered), Unknown Terrain will feature a diverse selection of work ranging from vibrant and colorful paintings, some studies for the new pieces, and something new for Hem – sculpture. Previews: “OUTSIDEIN” @ ArtCenter College of Design

Thursday night, the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena will be opening OUTSIDEIN, an indoor and outdoor exhibition that is focused graffiti-based mural painting. Along with the wall painted by RISK that we showed you a few weeks back, artists Olivia Bevilacqua, David Flores, Chase, Robbie Conal, Cryptik, Jeanne Detallante, Shepard Fairey, James Jean, Geoff McFetridge, Kenny Scharf, and Jeff Soto have also made contributions. Recap: Ludo x Rero Installation (Bogota)

French artists and studio mates, Ludo and Rero, were recently visiting Colombia during the ArtBo Artfair week in Bogota. They were invited to create a collaborative installation at a 500 year old historical site where they incorporated their work into a colonial patio. Openings: Beyond Eden 2015

Just this past weekend, the fifth and final edition of Beyond Eden was held at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. The bulk of the artworks exhibited was seen at booths from C.A.V.E. Gallery (Venice, CA), Copro Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), Spoke Art (San Francisco, CA), Hashimoto Contempoary (San Francisco, CA) and event organizers Thinkspace (Culver City, CA). Also, both Mear One (interviewed) and Meggs had solo showcases hosted by the event and there was live painting from Steven Lopez, Gustavo Rimada, John Park and Joseph Lee on Saturday night. Recap / Streets: Unexpected (Fort Smith)

Recently, we shared with you a mural that D*Face (interviewed) completed for the Unexpected public arts event in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Curated by Just Kids, artists Vhils, Roa (seen above), Maser, Ana Maria, Bicicleta Sem Freio and Askew were also invited in to paint walls in the former real western town’s downtown area. Baby Tattooville ’15: Surrealist Ball

On Saturday night, attendees of this year’s Baby Tattooville at Riverside’s Mission Inn witnessed something that they will not soon forget for a very long time. The highlight of the annual art retreat (although this year’s was the last) was a Surrealist Ball hosted by none other than Mark Ryden and Marion Peck. Galleria Patricia Armocida is currently showing the Italian debut show of young Brazilian artist Raphael Sagarra aka Finok. Sorrir e Chorar looks like his most accomplished exhibition to date, including various styles of works that show his seemingly endless creativity and diversity. Through his previous shows, the São Paulo-based artist was working with different mediums to blend his imagery with different familiar and mostly traditional objects. Videos: Pharrell Visits Takashi Murakami

As we mentioned a couple months ago, Takashi Murakami will be unveiling his first solo exhibition in Japan in over 14 years on October 31st. Friend and collaborator Pharrell Williams recently paid a visit to the Japanese artist in his studio as he was prepping for the show at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo entitled The 500 Arhats. As you will see in the footage below, the highlight of the show will definitely be the massive 100 meter long painting. Discuss Takashi Murakami here.
