Streets: Telmo Miel – “Prepared” (Italy)

Last month, Telmo Miel painted a mural entitled Prepared for the FestiWall public art festival in Italy. The touching image from the Dutch street artists features a woman putting a helmet on her armored son, symbolizing a mother’s love and the importance of family. Using their impressive spray paint skills, the duo from the Netherlands once again demonstrated their special blend of realism and abstraction with this multi-story wall in Ragusa. Releases: Shok-1 x Bally Collection

With the help of tastemaker Swizz Beatz, Bally recently launched a new capsule collection with artwork from Shok-1. Known for his unique x-ray aerosol technique, the British artist recently traveled to Japan and Hong Kong (seen above) to promote the release of a selection of sweatshirts, joggers, totes, fanny packs, sneakers, and hats for both men and women. Returning to Allouche Gallery for another showing (see 2016), Ron English (featured) recently unveiled a selection of work from the last three years for his fans in New York. Delusionville features the locally-based artist’s pop culture infused imagery with iconic characters like the “Baby Hulk” and “MC Supersized”, oftentimes with references to art history. Additionally, the exhibition features a series of collaborative works with English’s friend Daniel Johnston, a singer, songwriter and artist with whom he has worked with in the past 30 years. Recently in Oulu, Finland, Andrew Hem (interviewed) completed by far the hardest mural he’s ever painted due to the challenging texture of the wall. Created for multi-city UPEA street art festival, Crystal Blue from the American artist has a pixelated feel to it due to the tiny rocks on the surface of the wall. Using masterful gradients of of red and orange in the background, the stunning piece really stands out from the surroundings. Previews: “Lush Life 6” @ Roq La Rue

Tonight in Seattle, Roq La Rue celebrated their re-opening after a two year hiatus with a group show entitled Lush Life 6. Like the previous iterations of the exhibition, artists were free to interpret the theme as they saw fit.
