Streets: Escif (Spain)

After giving you an overview of Escif’s work recently, we have another mural to share with you from the Spanish street muralist. Entitled The Enlightened Vandalism, the massive wall is located in Villarreal and features a masked figure engaging in various illegal activities and acrobatic maneuvers in a repeating composition that is often characteristic of Escif’s work. Last we heard, Hush (interviewed) was in Melbourne for a solo showing in May of 2012 (covered). Fast forward a year and this time he will be opening an exhibition tomorrow night at the Corey Helford Gallery. While here, he just finished a mural at the Branded Arts Building featuring his East meets West urban aesthetic. Streets: Andrew Schoultz (SF)

Andrew Schoultz recently painted this mural in San Francisco on the side of Pop’s Bar on 24th and York Stree in the Mission District. The Victorian style structure was reinvigorated with the locally-based artist’s kinetic imagery including some of the motifs that appear commonly in his work – horses, bricks, telephone poles, and more. As you can see, the work navigated around the various architectural components as well as incorporated some existing graffiti. Discuss Andrew Schoultz here.

As we previously shared with you, El Mac is currently in Denmark for a show that opened tonight at Galerie Wolfsen. Along with an impressive array of new paintings created with his signature spray technique, the LA-based street muralist also gifted the city of Aalborg with a new public piece to enjoy. South Africa-based DAL and his wife Faith47 have been busy painting murals nonstop since they arrived in London several weeks ago. Our photographer on scene, Butterfly, caught up with the prolific artist as he worked on one of his walls near Brick Lane. Ryan De La Hoz has been grabbing our eye over the last couple of years and appreciation of his artwork has been building momentum rapidly recently. His current solo exhibition What New Mystery Is This? is showing at RVCA in San Francisco, and is accompanied by new window displays in the SF space by other artists we admire – Bill McRight and Ben Venom. Ryan’s work utilizes cut paper and found imagery with exquisitely detailed ink linework to create a wonderful blend of Op-Art fused with geometric assemblages. […]
