Last month, China’s invisible man, Liu Bolin, was in Long Beach, California giving his TED Talk. As part of the presentation, a live demonstration was set up where his technique was put on display as he gradually blended in with the stage background. After another enjoyable retreat in Hawaii for AM, it’s time to wrap up another successful POW WOW (see all our coverage here). Streets: Liqen (Ecuador)

Mexican artist Liqen recently headed south to spend some time on the Ecuadorian Pacific coast. Besides enjoying some good food, the street muralist did some birdwatching and sketching different species of these winged creatures. Inspired by the experience, he recently painted this wood building in Esmeraldas although some of the things he painted may be from his impressive imagination. Art Focus: Patricia Piccinini

Our eyes were recently drawn to the work of Patricia Piccinini with a sculpture that is currently part of a group show (How To Tell The Future From The Past) at Haunch of Venison New York. Entitled The Carrier, the hyper-realistic piece from the multidisciplinary artist makes the viewer almost think it is real if not for the fantastical creature that is holding an elderly woman on its back. Streets: JR (New York)

Last week, JR spent part of his birthday doing what he loves best – getting up on the streets. For this unique little “inception” worthy project within a project, it looks like the French street photograffeur enlisted his friends Os Gemeos to pose for a photo on the back of a truck which then was pasted back onto said truck (seen below). Shepard Fairey was recently invited to the Santa Fe University of Art and Design to do a lecture as part the school’s Artists for Positive Social Change series. Of course while there, Mr. Obey decided to create a mural for his fans in New Mexico. Considering the venue, Shep decided to get up with a pro-art, anti-war piece. POW WOW ’13: Kamea Hadar x Rone

Another mural created for POW WOW Hawaii by Kamea Hadar and Rone (see his first mural here) was finished up after the week ended. Combining the local talents of Hadar and Rone’s skills from down under, the mural featured a closeup portrait of a Hawaiian girl beautifying the Kaka’ako area for years to come.
