Openings: “Post It 8” @ Giant Robot 2

Bringing back one of their most popular shows for its 8th iteration, Giant Robot 2 recently opened its doors to the Post It 8 group exhibition. Collectors in Los Angeles lined up starting from early morning to take first dibs at works on post-it notes priced affordably at $25. Entering several at a time, each fan was allowed to purchase the pieces they wanted as long as they stuck to the one-per-artist rule. Videos: KAWS Companion Balloon (Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade) on Nowness

Last month, we shared with you a video shot in-studio with KAWS before his Companion Balloon hit the streets of New York for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Then AM headed over in person to check out the pre-parade preparations before the 41-foot-high version of the NY-based artist’s shy signature character took to the air. Now for those who missed it, NOWNESS has a new video (directed by Jake Sumner) out with footage of the inflatable drifting along the Upper West Side towards downtown Manhattan. Discuss KAWS […]

Openings: Joe Sorren – “Everything’s Alright Sweetie, Please Get Some Sleep” @ Jonathan LeVine

Joe Sorren (featured) recently opened a great show at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Everything’s Alright Sweetie, Please Get Some Sleep, this exhibition delivered what we come to expect from the artist. From his thoughtful impressionist inspired brushstrokes to dreamy soft textures & lighting, Joe touches the viewers in a way few artists we’ve seen could. The themes this series harnesses are the fear and concerns of vulnerability, but also the contrasting strength that comes with courage. This wonderful show is up until December 29th, […]

Basel Week Miami ’12: David Kordansky Gallery @ Art Basel

One of the galleries with the best and largest stables of  young artists that every collector keeps an eye out for every year at Art Basel Miami Beach is David Kordansky Gallery.  The Culver City, CA stalwart represented Los Angeles’ talked-about art scene to the fullest with great pieces by such coveted artists as Aaron Curry, Kathryn Andrews, Valentin Carron, and Mai-Thu Perret.  Andrews actually has a solo exhibition opening soon at the gallery, so this was a nice taste of things to come.  See […]
