Teaser: Meggs – “Truth in Myth” @ White Walls

After a showing in Asia, Australia-based painter Meggs heads west to San Francisco for his next solo exhibition set for July 14th. Entitled Truth in Myth, the new body of work looks to be a continuation of his recent imagery richly saturated with his chosen palette and renderings of fantastical creatures. It looks like the busy James Jean (featured) is already in London prepping his installation for the Gin & Juice group show at Ivory & Black. Art HK ’12 Art Fair – Mizuma Gallery

Another booth AM stops by whenever we are at art fairs the Tokyo-based Mizuma Gallery. Not only do they represent one of our favorite artists, Masakatsu Sashie and his entrancing orbs of futuristic and post-apocalyptic goodness as well as the talents of Akino Kondoh, but their roster of artists always includes much of the up-and-coming talent from Japan. Basel Week Switzerland ’12: Haroshi for Jonathan LeVine Gallery (SCOPE)

Another booth to check out if you are lucky enough to be at Art Basel right now is the Jonathan LeVine setup at SCOPE. Japanese sculptor Haroshi has contributed three pairs of transparent shoes, fitted with feet sculpted from skateboards, a signature touch. Releases: Dan May – “The Resistless Hour Awaits” Print Set

Chicago-based painter Dan May (interviewed) recently put up a set of two prints for sale based on a commission piece he painted entitled The Resistless Hour Awaits. Featuring some of his signature imagery like his detailed rendering of strands, the limited editions are 16 x 20″ each, signed & numbered with COA, in a run of 50, and will cost you $100. Openings: Rostarr – “IKONOCLYSM” @ Common Gallery

Last month, the Common Gallery in Tokyo filled their walls with work from Romon Kimin Yang (AKA Rostarr). As you saw in our studio visit prior to the opening, the NY-based artist prepared a series of diverse work featuring his signature calligraphy coupled with some references to Japan for this latest showing. Bronx street & graffiti artist COPE2 recently opened up a new show at New York’s Dorian Grey Gallery. After seeing his signature bubble tag style at recently at exhibitions & on the streets, we check COPE twisting it to bring a different look by focusing less on his famous tag for his indoor works and a little more on the street element with his aerosols. Preview: Patrick Martinez – “Lovely Day” @ Known Gallery
