KAWS x Hennessy VS Cognac Bottle Launch Party @ New Museum

Last Thursday night, AM attended the launch party for the new Hennessy VS Cognac bottle designed by KAWS held at the New Museum. The fresh collaboration is actually the first in a series of individually numbered Hennessy bottles to be designed by well known artists. This past weekend, Thinkspace Gallery presented Tran Nguyen’s solo show titled The Synapse Between Here and There. The work on display showed a great mix of her work which included traditional paintings, detailed drawings and sketches. Tonight in Toronto, a pair of geometrically inclined artists will be teaming up at the Show & Tell Gallery. Aptly named Geometric Balance, the joint showing will feature Dalek’s (interviewed) space monkey abstractions and Greg Lamarche (interviewed) typographic shapes. Last Thursday saw the opening night private preview of the all-female street artist show Miss Danger on the Loose (previewed here) at LAB ART Los Angeles. Curated by KH No. 7, the show featured LA’s very own legendary Becca Midwood, as well as a bevy of emerging talent getting up around the City of Angels. Last Thursday, AM attended the much anticipated unveiling of Flights of Genius by Steve “ESPO” Powers. Created in association with Joshua Liner Gallery and held at the corporate offices of Ogilvy & Mather (see previous project there), the marketing agency commissioned ESPO to create a series of works that lined each floor of the stairwell for the historic building with direct quotes by legendary founder David Ogilvy.
