Releases: Candice Tripp – “There’s a hole in the ground and it’s playing your song” Print

There’s a hole in the ground and it’s playing your song is the name of a new etching that Candice Tripp (interviewed) recently released. The limited edition (run of 25) has been in the works for quite a while but after several months, two plates, three test proofs and a lot of cramping, it is ready for purchase. Supreme recently announced their latest artist collaboration project with none other than famed sculptor Urs Fischer. The Swiss-born artist has elected to use the image of a cigarette, in various states of use, for the latest installment of the streetwear brand’s longstanding artist deck series. This isn’t the first time Fischer has chosen this subject for his art and speaks to his focus on everyday objects and the effects of time. Releases: Audrey Kawasaki – “Dreaming of Koholint Island” Print

On March 26, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Dreaming of Koholint Island. The image is taken from the painting the locally-based artist contributed to the current 30th anniversary Legend of Zelda group show (covered) in Los Angeles. Starting at 12 noon PST, 250 of these prints will go on sale for $140 unframed and $290 framed, but head over here for more details if you are interested in adding one to your collection. Releases: James Jean – “Kali” Print

On March 23rd, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time-limited print (starting 8:00 AM PDT and available for 12 hours only) through his webstore entitled Kali. The image is taken from one of his paintings for his show in Tokyo last year (covered) and features the Japan-based artist’s surreal take on the Hindu goddess of empowerment. Earlier this year, Tracey Emin collaborated with her long time friend and jewellery designer Stephen Webster on a new line of wearable art. The 50-piece collection entitled I Promise To Love You is inspired by the British artist’s signature neon art and her sketches of woodland animals of which she states – “I chose the woodland creatures as I wanted to work with the idea of English animals. Pace Prints just announced their newest print release with KAWS. Man’s Best Friend is a monumental set of 10 black and white screenprints, similar to the installation shown at his 2014 show at Honor Fraser Gallery (covered). Based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts, the prints are KAWS’ take on the popular cartoon. By combining macro views of lines that comprise of the forms of Snoopy, Woodstock and friends, along with his signature XX, the Brooklyn-based artist created appealing abstract images. On March 20th, Joao Ruas will be releasing a print set entitled The Rites of Spring. Inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s masterpiece Le Sacre du Printemps, the limited editions will be available at 8:31AM (PST) the exact moment of the Vernal Equinox on the Northern Hemisphere. Releases: Josh Keyes – “Afternoon of a Faun” Print

Earlier today, Josh Keyes (interviewed) continued his longstanding collaboration with Tiny Showcase by releasing another print. Afternoon of a Faun is a 12″ tall by 18″ wide time limited edition and will be available from March 1st until March 8th (noon Eastern Time). Priced at $55, each sale will contribute $15 to the Nature Conservancy which works toward protecting nature, for people today and future generations. Continuing their partnership with Pangeaseed, artistic duo Kozyndan recently released a new print entitled Celestial Bodies. Their love for the oceans is well known, so this this whimsical piece revisiting their riff on the narwhal is a perfect project to collaborate on with the for-benefit company trying to help to save the seas through ocean-inspired art.
