From paintings to sculptures to interactive installations, the show had the audience constantly buzzing as artists took their works a little further towards the edge. Update: Conor Harrington – “Dead Meat” @ Lazarides

As we mentioned about a month ago, Conor Harrington (interviewed) is set to open his solo show Dead Meat at Lazarides (Rathbone Place) on March 2nd. Taking his imagery in a new direction, the UK-based artist focuses in on a behind-the-scenes look at men of power in the 18th century when Europe’s might was at its peak. Coming up in April, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery will be hosting a solo exhibition from Greg Simkins (featured). The last time we saw a large body of work from the LA-based artist, it was all the way up in Canada (covered). For now, here is a peek in-studio of what he’s working on for his home-city fans, but we’ll have more for you as the show draws closer. Discuss Greg Simkins here.

POW WOW ’12: Suitman

For this year’s POW WOW, we see the return of performance artist, Young Kim aka Suitman. The versatile man of many talents continued expanding his longstanding  suit-photography series which he also explored during last year’s Pow Wow. With all the portraits created from the attendees from the opening night a year ago, Suitman pasted up and hand-finished two site specific outdoor murals to be displayed in the neighborhood of Kaka’ako thus giving a “distinguished” face to the event’s name. Check out more after the jump.

Streets: DAL – “The Williams Brothers” (Cape Town)

Streets: ROA (Stockholm)

In contrast to the tropical weather AM is experiencing here in Hawaii for POW WOW, it looks like Stockholm is still experiencing a cold front. As you must know by now after reading our preview article, ROA was in Sweden for a solo show recently (more on this later). While there, the Belgium street muralist braved the snow to put up this seal piece for his fans to enjoy. More photos after the jump…
