Openings: Art Los Angeles Contemporary ’11

This past weekend, the second annual Art Los Angeles Contemporary took place at its newest location, The Barker Hanger.  LA’s best contemporary art fair featured work by established artists such as Barry McGee, Dan Attoe, Richard Jackson, Shepard Fairey and Ryan McGinness, as well as tons of emerging ones.  Participating were galleries from all over the world, including California, New York, Europe, and Asia. Yoshitomo Nara Statues Up in New York

Over the weekend, New York was gifted two new sculptural installations from Yoshitomo Nara, placed in conjunction with his retrospective at the Asia Society, set to open on September 9th. The pair of 12-foot-high fiberglass dogs are on the Upper East Side (one across from the entrance to the Asia Society and the other just in front of the Park Avenue Armory) and will stand guard throughout the exhibition set to run until the beginning of next year. Preview: Hush & Opus Gallery @ Scope NYC

Armory Week is just around the corner and we have a little peek of what’s coming for the Scope Art Fair in NYC. Hush (interviewed) will be premiering a new Geisha painting with Opus Art and it looks rad. Usually we see him utilizing a manga-esque girl, but this time Hush switches it up with a more realistic approach to his signature style. More after the jump.

Preview: Camille Rose Garcia @ SCOPE NY

The magical work of Camille Rose Garcia will be the center of attention for Jonathan Levine’s booth at this years SCOPE art fair in New York. They will be exhibiting new paintings, drawings, and sculpture from CRG as part of a site-specific installation, including a custom wallpaper, designed by the artist herself.
