After going big on multiple walls (here, here, and here) during Art Basel Miami Week ahead of a sold out showing, ABOVE (interviewed) has surfaced in Cape Town with some new work. The prolific Bay Area-based artist’s latest wall is for Origin Wines, a South African winery that leads one of the largest Fairtrade projects globally. Entitled What Goes Up, the footage of it going up is a nice primer on one of ABOVE’s techniques – projection. Some photos after the jump…

This week’s world roundup of street work is heavily tilted towards Art Basel Week Miami. With so many artists in town, there was bound to be some overlap on walls and in some cases – collaborations. Not sure if the Buff Monster & COPE2 piece above was planned as a tag team effort, but they seem to fit nicely together. ABOVE (interviewed), whose contest for his new PASSPORT book is still ongoing here at AM, is continuing to hit up walls in Miami in preparation for his showing with White Walls at the SCOPE fair during Art Basel Week. As you can see, this new piece entitled It Takes Two To Tango, when taken in context with another mural we posted last week, shows the new themes he is working for this new exhibition. AM has teamed up with ZERO+ Publishing and ABOVE (interviewed) for a contest and giveaway of the boxed edition (valued at $250) of his new PASSPORT book. Included in the set is the hardcover book, a special clamshell box, and a limited edition print – all signed and numbered. As you saw briefly in our recent update on the street festivities down in Miami, the Bay area-based ABOVE (interviewed) worked on a piece painted with his signature letters spelling out “GIVE A WALL ST. When ABOVE (interviewed) spotted a sweet opportunity on the streets recently in the form of what looked like a frame on a public wall, many different options ran though his head.
