For her second showcase with V1 which opened recently in Copenhagen, Alicia McCarthy created a fresh body of work featuring her iconic waving patterns and rainbow-like creations. Painted mostly on found and repurposed objects or faded paper sheets, these hypnotic creations are done using a variety of uncommon art techniques. Tomorrow night (April 20th) in Brooklyn, Lydia Fong, Todd James, Steve Powers, and Alicia McCarthy will be putting on a show at Muddguts. For those in the know, as well as from the artwork used to promote the exhibition, it looks like Fong (aka Barry McGee) will be joining his Street Market buddies James and Powers and has invited his Mission School art movement colleague McCarthy to the party as well. Openings: “Major Work” @ Chandran Gallery

Earlier this month, Chandran Gallery in San Francisco opened a show curated by Andrew Schoultz entitled Major Work. The locally-based artist carefully selected a roster of participants that included himself, Alicia McCarthy, Aaron Noble, Kelsey Brookes, Revok, James Marshall (Dalek), Sam Friedman, Eric Yahnker, Mark Dean Veca, Saber, Hilary Pecis, Tim Biskup, Eric White, and Allison Schulnik.
