Teaser: “New Moon” @ Myplasticheart

On February 11th, about a week after Chinese new year, myplasticheart in New York will open their doors to New Moon, a group exhibition featuring reinterpretations of the Chinese zodiac. Artists like Amy Sol (interviewed) had many choices (she chose the dragon), considering that there are twelve animals in all – rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. Sketchbook: Amy Sol

Inspired by some night-time walks by the coastline in the Northwest, Amy Sol (interviewed) recently filled her sketchbook with some night scenery since her last show was at Corey Helford (covered). It remains to be seen whether this translates to actual paintings, which actually would be pretty interesting. We are looking forward to her part in a monster group show towards the end of 2011 at Thinkspace Gallery. More after the jump…

Releases / Signing: Hi-Fructose Collected Edition Vol. 2 @ SFMOMA

Our friends at Hi-Fructose will be releasing their Hi-Fructose Collected Edition Vol. 2 tomorrow (November 4th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm) at the SFMOMA. There will be limited edition box sets and hardcover editions saved especially for this event, but even more exciting is that there will be an artist signing including appearances by Audrey Kawasaki, Camille Rose Garcia, Ferris Plock, Amy Sol, and Mars-1 as well as founders/editors Annie Owens and Attaboy. Openings: Chloe Early & Amy Sol – “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds” & “Dear Milky Way” @ Corey Helford

Last Saturday night, Chloe Early (interviewed) and Amy Sol (interviewed) opened their shows at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. Chloe impressed with some of her largest paintings to date filled with here special mix of abstraction and realism entitled “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds”. Amy brought with her a smaller body of work, “Dear Milky Way”, that included both delicate paintings and drawings featuring her sweet characters and their harmonious relationship with nature.
