Anish Kapoor – “Leviathan” @ Grand Palais (Paris)

Anish Kapoor, who recently returned to India to open his first solo exhibition there, has now traveled to Paris, the site of his first ever exhibition 30 years ago, to unveil Leviathan. The 35 meter tall work made from PVC is 13,500 square meters when inflated, forming a cathedral-like space inside (which viewers can enter) creating the illusion of being inside a giant whale. Oscar Weekend, AM attended the Black Swan inspired group show at Regen Projects, which featured an A-list lineup with names like Matthew Barney, Richard Prince, Dan Graham, Glenn Ligon, and Anish Kapoor. The exhibion explores the illusion of dualities described in Darren Aronofsky’s chilling psycho-drama: black vs. white, purity vs. sexuality, and apparition vs. reality. Showing: Anish Kapoor – “Turning the World Upside Down” @ Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens in London is currently the setting for “Turning the World Upside Down”, Anish Kapoor’s newest exhibition of his largescale mirror sculptures. Organized by the Royal Parks and Serpentine Gallery, the new locale for the renowned Indian artist’s most recent works certainly provides a stunning contrast especially when reflected in the shiny surfaces. The four sculptures will be in residence for six months amongst the trees, grass, and ponds and will feature around the clock security. More pics after the jump…

Video: Anish Kapoor @ Guggenheim (Bilbao)

Renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor is currently showing at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the first large-scale survey of the artist’s work to be seen in Spain.
