Showing: Anthony Lister – “You Call That a Back Rub..” @ Metro Gallery

Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) delightfully twisted view of superheroes has been on full display the last several weeks in Melbourne at the Metro Gallery. The show “You Call That a Back Rub..”, which closes tomorrow (April 18th), featured the Australian artists signature abstractionism of our favorite comic book characters, sculptures, and of course, a little performance art just like his show in NY (showing concurrently). Armory Week ’10: Pulse New York

Everyone knows the story of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” where a picky little girl chooses between different bowls of hot cereal etc. to find the one that suits her. Well, sometimes we feel kinda like Goldilocks at art fairs, where some feel too big and others too small. However, more often than not, during the weeks of Art Basel and Armory, Pulse is the one that fits just right, and this year was no exception. As far as size goes, Pulse got it right […]

When we heard about an exhibition that was to be curated by Elms Lester at the prestigious Atkinson Gallery in Somerset, it definitely stoked our interest. Preview: “Go Get Your Shinebox” @ Brooklynite Gallery

Brooklynite Gallery has a pretty interesting show opening on the 21st of this month entitled “Go Get Your Shinebox.” Artists were asked to create their vision of what a “shoeshine box” was, the simplest way to make a living during the economic downturn and perhaps even take a step further to create “survival boxes.” With such a open ended theme show, you can expect a varied response with boxes of all shapes and sizes. Take a look at more after the jump…

Openings: Ron English – “Nimbus Vapor” @ Opera Gallery
