KAWS certainly has had a busy schedule in the last couple of weeks with multiple openings that drew huge crowds. The Brooklyn-based artist in the last month or so has opened UPS AND DOWN at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City and a show at the PAFA in Philadelphia. This past weekend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) opened its doors to unveil the much anticipated exhibition by KAWS. The show featured 70 works (old & new) at the historic institution and included both paintings and sculptures that spans some major milestones of the artist’s storied career to date. Remember when renowned photographer JR (featured) recently returned to his home country of France for a solo exhibition entitled Encrages at Galerie Perrotin. The fresh show took over the spacious two story Paris gallery as well as utilized the ample outdoor area with his signature large-scale wheatpasting.
