Openings: José Parlá – ‘Broken Language’ @ Haunch of Venison

AM attended the opening of José Parlá’s Broken Language exhibition at Haunch of Venison in London last week, his first show in the UK since his significant and heavily calligraphic Adaptation/Translation exhibition back in 2008. Was it worth the wait? Hell yes. Having only had chance to see the majority of Parlá’s recent work vicariously via the internet since the Elms Lesters show, we – like many other UK fans of all things Parlá – awaited this new body of work with a strong sense of […]

Kai & Sunny have just released a new screen-print entitled Ghost Flower as featured as a large format image at their recent London exhibition at StolenSpace, The Flower Show. We’re pretty enthralled by their dynamic imagery and thought that this image was one of the stand-outs of the show. The large format edition sold out at the exhibition, but now this smaller and more manageable edition can be purchased at Kai & Sunny’s website. Or, you may want to try your luck on our giveaway. Openings: Brian Alfred – “It’s Already the End of the World” @ Haunch of Venison

Brooklyn-based artist Brian Alfred opened his latest show “It’s Already the End of the World” last Friday at New York’s Haunch of Venison. In this new exhibition of painting, collage and animated video, Alfred puts a flat, pop veneer on the cult of personality and the globalized modern world. Many of the works are portraits of contemporary figures ranging from Burmese opposition leader Aung Sun Suu Kyi to Branch Davidian cult figure David Koresh to artists Dzine and Mickalene Thomas, while others are politically charged […]
