Openings: Herbert Baglione – “Last Chance for a Slow Dance” @ Iguapop Gallery

Herbert Baglione’s solo at the Iguapop Gallery in Spain opened last weekend with a series of new paintings, wall murals, and installations. We heard much from one of our favorite Brazilian artists since his show in SF, but it look as though “Last Chance for a Slow Dance” is another beautiful body of work with a cooler and more muted pallette. Openings: Herbert Baglione – “The Dark Wave” @ FIFTY24SF

Brazilian artist Herbert Baglione opened his latest solo show, “The Dark Wave” last night at San Francisco’s FIFTY24SF gallery.  Though the artist was unable to attend, due to passport restrictions, Baglione certainly came correct with an overwhelming selection of original sketches (close to 300!) and nine medium to large sized paintings.  The sketches, which are cash-and-carry till Christmas, have been taken out of Herbert’s personal sketchbooks and provide an insightful look at the processes and growth of this important Brazilian artist. Openings: “Get Rich Quick!” Group Exhibition @ Carmichael Gallery

Last night, the Carmichael Gallery in Hollywood pulled no punches with their all-star show, “Get Rich Quick!,” showcasing the strongest talents in the street and urban art genre. Some scorching hot pieces lined the gallery’s walls for the exhibition, including: a rare Banksy canvas, a KAWS ad disruption, boxes and screen-printed collages from Faile, to originals by Barry McGee and Micallef and much more. Outsiders Selection @ Lazarides (Newcastle)

Another great group show is underway at Lazarides (Newcastle Location). This time, the exhibition that opened last weekend is entitled “Outsiders Selection” and features original paintings, prints and sculpture from Faile, Antony Micallef, Blu, Ian Francis, David Choe, JR, Conor Harrington, Damien Hirst, Paul Insect, Invader, Polly Morgan, Kelsey Brookes, Vhils, Jonathan Yeo, Herbert Baglione, Zevs, and more.  Although the art was mainly older work, there were many standout pieces including this stunning “Flying Copper” (seen above) by Banksy suspended in glass/plexi.  Many more pics […]
