Openings / Setup: CUT IT OUT! @ Urban Nation

A couple weekends ago, Urban Nation continued their ongoing arts program in Berlin with a new show curated by Henrik Haven & Olly Walker entitled CUT IT OUT!. Focusing on the artistic merit of the stencil, the group exhibition brought together some well known street artists skilled with the technique. Showing: Crimes of Minds 2013 (Brest)

During 3 years the Crimes of Minds project invited local and international artists to create 21 murals across the city of Brest (France), transforming the city into an urban art museum (see previous coverage here).  To celebrate the end of the project and launch of a book documenting the process, a retrospective exhibition has been organized within 22 000 sq meters former warehouse, a perfect opportunity for artists to display artworks but also perform some  live painting. Streets: World Roundup (Sept 10 – Sept 16)

Headlining our Streets: World Roundup this week is a rare extraterrestrial piece from Invader. After a failed attempt last month, he has finally lived up to namesake and invaded space with his tiled works. Openings: Jef Aerosol – “All Shook Up” @ Ad Hoc Art

Old school French stencil artist, Jef Aerosol, opened his show in New York last week at Eastern District in association with Ad Hoc Art. “All Shook Up” featured classic pieces from the street artist, as well new pieces of cultural icons like Jay-Z and Basquiat – of course all emphasized with his ubiquitous red arrows.
