Previews / POW! WOW! Hawaii ’20: Thinkspace – “Exploring The New Contemporary Movement VII”

Continuing to collaborate with POW! WOW! Hawaii (2020 edition started this weekend), Thinkspace will putting their Exploring The New Contemporary Movement VII group show at Wade Warehouse (449 Cooke Street) on view from February 11-15. This Saturday evening (November 10th), Thinkspace Gallery will be opening a group show featuring Audrey Kawasaki, Atsuko Goto, Fuco Ueda, (seen above), Jolene Lai, and Stella Im Hultberg. Following in the vein of previous all women exhibitions (see 2007 & 2011) at the Los Angeles showspace, ELYSIUM will highlight the talents of the five artists, who all share a penchant for paintings strong female protagonists as well as an Asian background which informs their work. Previews: “Invisible College” @ Fort Wayne Museum of Art

This weekend, a show co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art will open at the museum. Entitled Invisible College, the group exhibition refers to the fact that many of the participants have found success outside of the traditional art educational model. Previews: Jolene Lai – “Play” @ Thinkspace Gallery

On Saturday night, April 26th, Jolene Lai will be presenting five new works in Thinkspace Gallery’s project room (an encore to her showing there in 2013). Entitled Play, the new collection of paintings demonstrate the Los Angeles-based artist’s unique world, filled with whimsical and adventurous scenes seemingly taken directly from a fairytale or surreal dream.
