On May 7th, the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery will be opening up The Wrinkles of the City, Havana, Cuba, a collaborative showing between JR and José Parlá. Featuring twelve large portraits and a site specific installation, the exhibition will showcase works that were put up by the two friends during their time in Cuba (covered) for JR’s continuing project of photographing senior citizens and pasting their portraits on the walls of city buildings. By now, you will have seen photos from the intriguing collaboration between JR (featured) and Jose Parla on the walls of Havana. Parla, with his Cuban roots, seems like the perfect partner in crime for the TED winning French artist as calligraphic stylings of the first meld seamlessly with the stark photos of the second. After bringing you a first glimpse of the next phase of the Wrinkles Of The City project from JR (featured) where he is collaborating with good friend and artist Jose Parla in Cuba, it looks like the two are in the thick of the action now. As we mentioned back in March along with set of photos from JR (featured) taken during a trip to Cuba, the French photograffeur was prepping for the next phase of his The Wrinkles Of The City project. It looks like that project has been started already as a collaboration with Jose Parla in Havana as evidenced by a glimpse of the action in the pic above. After blessing some walls in Los Angeles with his photographic touch along with giving another TED talk, JR (featured) headed over to Cuba for the next phase of his ongoing The Wrinkles Of The City project.
