Releases: Keiichi Tanaami – “GOLDFISH GIRL” Stool

Case Studyo recently unveiled a collaboration they worked on with Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami entitled GOLDFISH GIRL. The resulting stool looks like it comes straight out of one of the renowned artist’s psychedelic paintings and features much of what makes Tanaami’s work so distinctive – a garish palette, surreal touches like the exposed frontal lobe, and a bold graphic style. Openings: Keiichi Tanaami – “Tanaami x adidas Originals” @ Nanzuka

Over the weekend, Nanzuka in Tokyo presented a special show in association with adidas Originals from the legendary Keiichi Tanaami featuring his special mix of surreal imagery influenced by childhood memories such as the Great Tokyo Air Raid of World War II. The new body of work includes 16 new works on canvas, with many that feature the brand’s famous “Trefoil” logo and several new three-dimensional works. Showing: “Mickey: The True Original” Exhibition (New York)

As we mentioned a couple days ago, the Mickey: The True Original Exhibition has opened in New York, celebrating the 90th birthday of one of the most iconic cartoon characters in history. The show is filled with photo-ops, including an amazing piece (seen above) from Daniel Arsham inspired by Thru the Mirror, a Mickey Mouse cartoon short film from 1936 and a Mickey Mouse-themed Cosmic Cavern from Kenny Scharf. Rewind: Jul 21 – Aug 3

Time for another segment of our Rewind feature. This edition’s highlighted video (via Colossal) comes from Icheon Ceramics Village in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, home to over 300 ceramics studios. The American Museum of Ceramic Art visited five of the artists (like Kim Seong-Tae seen above) last year to profile their work with some beautiful footage.
