Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public. Openings: Kukula – The Adventures Of Raspberry Finn” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last month, The Adventures Of Raspberry Finn opened at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City featuring new paintings from Kukula. Taking inspirations from various sources like famous fictional characters and the fashion of Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko, the LA-based artist created new renderings of her sultry female characters. Openings: “The Baxter Collection” @ Roq La Rue

Roq La Rue changed it up for this month’s opening. The works on display are from the personal collection of the Baxter family, who are selling some of their collection to move overseas. Coming up next at the Corey Helford Gallery is a solo show from Kukula entitled The Adventures Of Raspberry Finn. Opening on September 14th, the exhibition will feature new paintings that draw their inspiration from characters such as Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, but with a twist. They have all been turned into women, and dressed up in clothes by a Russian designer – Ulyana Sergeenko. Openings: Kukula – “Lonely Opulent Things” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Just last Saturday night, Kukula filled the ground floor of the Corey Helford Gallery with her newest paintings, influenced by her recent visit to the France and the rich and decadent life of the old aristocracy. In kind, her paintings are more elaborate, intricate, and detailed than in the past made even more impressive as some of the works were her largest to date.
