Tomorrow night (January 7th) in New York, the Klein Sun will be hosting a new solo in their south gallery from Li Hongbo entitled Textbooks. The new body of work from the Beijing-based artist builds on his previous exhibition there (see 2014) with a new immersive installation built from binder clips, textbooks, and classroom materials. We recently stopped by the Klein Sun Gallery in New York to admire new works from Li Hongbo in a show entitled Tools Of Study. The Chinese artist and former book editor has taken his obsession with paper to new levels with flexible sculptures that bend our perceptions of reality. During Art Basel Week in Miami, one of the artists that caught our attention was Li Hongbo and his flexible paper sculptures. Represented by the Klein Sun Gallery at Art Miami & CONTEXT, the Chinese artist and former book editor presented pieces that look like solid and often created in a classic style, yet when stretched, the entire concept that the viewer had of his work is flipped upside down.
