Following up on a show at EVOKE Contemporary back in 2013 (covered), Kent Williams will be opening another solo tonight (September 25th) at the New Mexico showpace. Entitled Bones With Flesh, the new body of work includes some exquisite oil painting as well as some looser studies on paper. The subject matter centers on the Los Angeles-based artist’s mastery of the human form but also superimposed over these skills are more abstract elements throughout the composition. El Mac, who recently shared his album cover design for the new No Doubt album, was in New Mexico over the weekend for the The Hour Has Arrived initiative – a program designed to recognize the importance of fostering and preserving the craft of the Indian, which now includes the culturally informative and interactive Native Public Arts.
