Previews: Prune Nourry – “Holy River @ The Invisible Dog

Very soon, Prune Nourry will be exhibiting at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. She will be sharing the culmination of a three year project on gender selection focused on India. Entitled Holy River, Ms. Nourry will utilize her dynamic skill set to bring mediums such as sculptures, photography, performance and video to drive her points home. Recently at Jonathan LeVine in New York, Nicola Verlato opened up his solo exhibition entitled How The West Was Won alongside a solo from EVOL (covered). Streets: FAILE (Brooklyn)

After working their magic on the iconic Houston & Bowery mural location in New York last year, Faile (featured) returns with another sweet project. Making use the some elements seen in their ambitious Faile Temple installation (covered) in Portugal back in 2010 and offered as part of the soldout studio edition book, they installed the tiles on a building at 104 N. 7th Street in Brooklyn. Previews: “Go East” by Mark Moore @ Joshua Liner Gallery

We’re a fan of collaborations especially when it’s between galleries. This week, New York’s Joshua Liner will play host to Los Angeles-based Mark Moore Gallery. The exhibition Go East curated by Mark Moore will showcase talented artists Chad Person, Feodor Voronov, Kenichi Yokono and Yoram Wolberger. The opening reception is tonight at 6-9. Teaser: Shawn Barber – “Tattooed Portraits” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Coming up at the end of June, Joshua Liner will be hosting a new solo from Shawn Barber (interviewed). Featuring his Tattooed Portraits, this second showing (see 2010) with the New York gallery draws on his day job as a successful tattoo artist for inspiration on a series of rich oil paintings including a huge 72″ x 108″ piece of Japanese tattooist Shige. Openings: EVOL – “Repeat Offender” @ Jonathan LeVine

Last week, German artist EVOL launched a show entitled Repeat Offender at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The Berlin based artist’s intricate stencils are often layered on found mediums such as cardboard and metal to create mesmerizing cityscapes and unique urban compositions. In addition to these, we also caught a rare series of photographs depicting his 2009 project at the Caspar David Friedrich Stadt, an installation in a former slaughterhouse in Dresden, Germany. Signings: Scott Campell – “If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long” @ OHWOW Book Club

If you remember earlier this year, we told you about a new book by Scott Campbell entitled If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long. As you may know, the good folks at OHWOW have a fresh new retail location called the OHWOW Book Club in New York which was the perfect setting for a recent book signing by Campbell for his new publication. Streets: David Shrigley – “How Are You Feeling?” (New York)

David Shrigley, who is currently putting on a retrospective at the Hayward Gallery in the UK, has also found time to design a new billboard next to the The High Line in New York. The piece which will remain in place through May 7th features self-reflective speech bubbles and is entitled How Are You Feeling?
